In September of 2019, renovations to Gignilliat Hall were finished, giving the Wright School of Business (WSOB) a new and improved place to call home. Now, one year later, students of the WSOB can say their building is not only beautiful, but award winning.
The South Atlantic Chapter of The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) selected the additions to Memorial Hall for their 2020 Public Building, New Construction, Education, Constructed Value Less than $10 Million Award, with the award going to the Parrish Construction Group for the renovation of the hall.
This award recognizes professionalism and excellence in construction management. The award is not the only proof of Gignilliat Hall’s value though. Dean Marilyn Helms of the WSOB says the building has proven itself to be a great home for the WSOB as it offers students a new place to grow and learn.
“We are delighted with our new space in Gignilliat Hall, home of the C. Lamar and Ann Wright School of Business at Dalton State College,” Helms said. “Faculty and students alike agree the new open, bright spaces facilitate learning, and the modern technology in each classroom, along with IT support in the building, add to the usability and function.”
The 2019 renovations not only gave the entire building a modern facelift but also outfitted it with new interactive smartboards, several rooms built for research and group study purposes and many other features that can be read about in our blog post highlighting them.
“The new Gignilliat Hall is magnificent,” Helms said. “It is a flagship on our DSC campus and the faculty, staff, student, campus and community response has been overwhelming.”
